Amos Odell Webster, Jr. was a resilient, a faith-led dreamer, and embodied an entrepreneurial spirit.

With his faith, drive, and supportive family, he endured segregated schools in Florence, Alabama, attended his beloved Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee—where he graduated with a BS in Business Administration and completed Executive Management programs at Northwestern University and Dartmouth College, respectively.

On the foundation of his education, he navigated a 39-year professional career that spanned various companies including Detroit Diesel, Ford Motor Company, Waukesha Engine, Nortrax, Stribling Equipment, and Reagan Power. In addition, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to start A. Webster Chevrolet in Memphis, TN, and build Webster Piping and Supply Company with his family in Florence, Alabama.

Amos understood the power of entrepreneurship, ownership, and building generational wealth. He passed that knowledge down to his children, family, and various mentees. His family would like to honor his legacy and his belief in paying it forward with the establishment of the Amos O. Webster, Jr. Power of Entrepreneurship Fund. Amos Webster stood for opportunity, integrity, and innovation. This annual fund will help champion the entrepreneurial endeavors of a Tennessee State University alumni, who is a budding entrepreneur and support their efforts with a non-dilutive grant. The first grant was awarded in 2023.
